Ayuso dismisses the government's housing proposal and accuses Sánchez of "interference."

Isabel Díaz Ayuso didn't wait until Friday's Conference of Presidents to reject the housing pact the government has put on the table. And she let Pedro Sánchez know this in a letter.

The letter, in which the president of the region bids farewell with "a big hug," describes the proposal put forward by the Prime Minister as "improvised" due to a lack of funding and a violation of her powers.

In her letter, Ayuso emphasizes that "housing is the exclusive responsibility of the autonomous communities." She adds that "attempting to direct our policies from the national government, with imposed conditions and uniform measures, is unacceptable interference."

The disagreement between the Socialist and the Popular Party is such that Ayuso even takes advantage of the letter to suggest that "the first step to talk seriously about housing should be the repeal of the Housing Law currently in force; a norm

interventionist, deeply ideological and technically flawed,” he added.

A battery of reproaches that makes any agreement impossible on the text presented yesterday by Sánchez to the group of regional presidents, which pivoted on three reciprocal commitments: Triple public investment in housing, going from the 2.3 billion that were mobilized in the State Plan 2022 - 2025 to around 7,000 for the period 2026 - 2030, indefinitely protect the classification of publicly protected housing and end the monopoly on information held by private portals and create a public database that allows state administrations and citizens to know the real purchase/sale or rental prices in their city.

The Community's rejection of "market interventionism" is so resounding that the Madrid president warns Sánchez that her government team "will continue to defend at all times a management model based on freedom, legal security and trust in those who create jobs,

They build homes and contribute to the advancement of the region and the prosperity of Madrid residents. Because we believe it's the best thing for everyone, and I believe the data supports our conviction," he adds, ignoring the fact that, according to the latest Real Estate Index from Fotocasa, a website that the Community defends as a benchmark, it reveals that housing prices have risen by up to 36% in just one year in some areas of the capital.
